Our Story
Introduction
At DivInsights, we believe in the power of dividend investing to generate a reliable and sustainable income, making it a key strategy for building wealth over the long term. By combining capital appreciation with reinvesting your dividend income, dividend investing can have a tremendous effect on your overall wealth. For example, investing $10,000 in a typical dividend-paying stock on the S&P 500 and reinvesting your dividend income would grow to $28,000 after 10 years. In other words, dividend investing would almost triple your money even though it is generally considered a more conservative investment strategy.
However, not all dividend-paying companies are created equal. Some companies may face difficulties that could impact their ability to pay dividends. Therefore, it’s important to identify safe dividend-paying companies to invest in.
Why did we start DivInsights?
Our journey began when we started to build our own personal dividend portfolio and were not able to access all the support that we normally had access to in our professional jobs. This meant that we would spend long hours to go through a very manual and tedious process to identify companies that we felt were safe to invest in. Also, we lacked the time to expand our search beyond the usual dividend-paying companies and felt that we were missing out on some potentially hidden gems.
To put this in context, there is an overwhelming number of companies to choose from. For example, the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ together already have close to 10,000 companies and each company provides large amounts of information that is relevant to dividend investors. This includes annual / quarterly financial reports, analyst reports, investor presentations and as well as company news articles.
Our Solution
Over time, we gained valuable experience by assessing a large number of companies using this manual process and were able to make good judgment calls about which companies were considered safe to invest in. In addition, we realized that we were following a very similiar process to assess these companies by focusing on those trends and indicators that had the highest predictive impact on a company’s future dividend payments. That’s when we knew that we should take this to the next level by standardizing our experience-based approach and adding the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
